SEASON REPERTOIRE

The Magic Toy Store – November 17, 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm
  ~
Choreographed by Nikolai Kabaniaev ~
This family classic, set to the delightful Rossini score, is based on Leonide Massine’s 1919 ballet La Boutique Fantasque. Children and adults alike will delight in the story of a toy store where the toys come to life, touched by fantasy and enchantment. The Contra Costa Times called it “a delight for children of all ages.” With a run time of less than one hour, the production is perfect for families. You will have an exclusive opportunity to meet and mingle with the dancers of Diablo Ballet following the performance, and children under 12 may have their photo taken with the dancers in costume. The evening performance will be general seating only for both A and B subscribers, so please arrive early to find the best seats.

Once Upon a Ballroom – March 21 & 22, 8:00 pm
~ Choreographed by Nikolai Kabaniaev ~
Diablo Ballet's first full length ballet, Once Upon a Ballroom, will be the company’s most elegant and sophisticated performance yet. Conceived and choreographed by co-artistic director and choreographer Nikolai Kabaniaev, it is set to the music of Verdi, Saint-Sans, Puccini, Gluck, Wagner, Khachaturian, Bellini and the timeless voice of Maria Callas. A grand and elegant performance, Once Upon a Ballroom is the region’s can’t-miss ballet of the year.

Jazz Fever – May 9 & 10, 8:00 pm
  ~
Choreographed by Nikolai Kabaniaev, Viktor Kabaniaev, and Tina Kay Bohnstedt ~
This exciting program showcases classical, contemporary and modern ballet set to live jazz music. Three choreographers, three musicians, three world premieres…It will be a thrilling experience for jazz and dance lovers alike.
